The hallway was silent, I couldn't hear anybody. I couldn't find my way out. I didn't know how many days it had been since I was here. There were no windows in the room I was kept in. I finally managed to get out of the room but the hallway was a maze of corridors. No way of knowing which led to the exit. I kept walking, hanging on the side of the wall for support. I heard some noises from one of the rooms. They were talking about money being transferred from one account to the other. I had to get out of here before any of them could figure out I’m missing. I kept walking and looking for a way out. But it didn't seem to end; I was tired and couldn't walk back to my room. Soon I would be discovered and punished for trying to escape. I sat down and closed my eyes for a minute. When I woke up, I was back in the room I was kept in before; they had discovered me and put me in lock-down again. I kept thinking about my escape, how to break out of the room again and figure out which corridor to take, to my freedom. I figured I had to take one of my kidnappers into confidence and get some information out of him. I had to get him to trust me and tell me a way out of this hell. But how do I convince him? What should I do? All these questions were running through my mind with no answers. I thought I will just talk to him nicely when he comes to give me food today and tell him that I will not behave badly and do whatever they ask me to do. For a few days I would continue this way, get him to trust me and then ask him about this place and if there is anybody else here like me? And who is his boss? Why am I here? Why am I important to them? And most importantly what is the way out of here. I continued behaving nicely for a few days. It was difficult to tell how many days it had been as I didn't have any windows in my room, no calendars, no clock or a watch to tell time. I could tell that my kidnapper was opening up to me, we were forming a bond. I had his confidence, I was slowly asking him about all the queries I had. He told me that his bosses were a bunch of teenage boys looking to make a quick buck to pay for college and enjoy life. Their plan was to keep me here for a few days to torture me and my family, ask for a big ransom because they knew my parents could afford it, then get out of here and leave no traces of them ever being here. They would drug me before setting me free so that I don’t remember anything and am not capable of telling the police any details about my whereabouts and anything I might have seen here. I asked him if he would help me run away from here but he refused, I tried convincing him but he wouldn't budge. Finally he said all he could do was give me directions to get out of here and leave the door open, rest is up to me; he’s not responsible if anything should happen. I followed his directions and managed to get out with great difficulty. I called the police and then my parents that I was safe and they should come and get me. I was a little shaken up and would take some time to get out of it. But in addition, I was elated that I managed to get away when it seemed like an impossible task.
