“Enough talking, hand over the money now” she said. As soon as Shane handed the money, the police came raiding inside.
“You are under arrest for extortion and blackmail and illegal operations” said Officer Mc Cash proudly. “Thank you so much for your help, today is a big day for us; we have caught someone whom we were after for a very long time” said the officer as soon as they took Mr. Black and the young woman away. “Don’t thank me, it was all their doing, they were so eager to find their money that they didn’t think something like this would happen to them and made a mistake. I should be thanking my sister without whom I wouldn’t have called you in the first place” Shane said happily. When he got home, he immediately called his daughter, Katana and told her the good news. She was elated that they were free. But, Shane wasn’t at peace, he still wanted to know where his wife, Malina had hidden the money. He went through all her stuff but to his dismay couldn’t find anything. The next day he called Katana and asked her if she had anything from her mother. She said that she only had a diary which she had found in her mother’s bedside table when they were packing her things up. Shane said he wanted to have a look at it immediately. “What’s the rush dad?” she asked as she handed the diary to her father, Shane. “I have to find out something. Now go and do something useful” he said “Ok dad, relax I’m going” she said and left the house. He flipped through the pages rapidly and stopped suddenly. ‘Wealth is where my heart is’ said one of the entries in her diary. ‘What does she mean by that? What do I do now? I have to find a way to decode this message’ thought Shane “Couldn’t understand her when she was with me, can’t understand her now when she is gone” he said. He decided to go through her things again, but again couldn’t find anything that would help him understand the message. He called Katana again and asked her if she knew anything about what the message meant but she didn’t. A few days later Katana got a letter from one of her mother’s friends calling her to his house. He said he wanted to her something personal and not to tell her father about it. “Hello, please come in” said Roger “Hi” said Katana and entered the house. “How did you find me?” she asked “Your mother gave me your information right before her accident” he said “Well, what did you want to give me?” she asked “Here it is” he said as he handed her an envelope. With quick hands she opened the envelope to find a plane ticket with her name on it. “I don’t understand, what’s this suppose to mean?” she asked “You need to get away from here as fast as possible. I don’t have time to explain, please just go and do not by any chance tell your father that you are going away. Promise me that” he said “Ok ok, I promise. If this is what my mother wanted. Then this is what I will do” she said and left the apartment. She switched her cell phone off, took a cab to the airport and boarded the flight. She reached the small town of Sierra in about 10 hours time. She saw her mother’s sister whom she thought was dead but had actually run away when she was very young. “Hi” she said “Hi Katana, how are you my darling?” said her aunt Minty. “How did you find me? How did you know I would be on this flight?” she asked “I knew because we both had planned it before your mother was killed” she explained “Come on; let’s go home, I will tell you everything. But first I need to feed you, you look famished” she said as they left for home in her car. After a delicious and heartful meal, Aunt Minty explained further, “your mother wanted you to have the best possible life she could give you. She knew that your father would not give you a penny if he came into a lot of money. So she hid it from him and gave me the responsibility to hand it over to you if something happened to her”. “But how did she find you? You had run away from home such a long time back?” asked Katana “I found her, I needed some help so your mother gave me some money and set me up here to start afresh” she said. “What about the money, what did you mean by that?” asked Katana “The money she stole from them. She wanted you to have all of it and have a better life” explained aunt Minty.
Meanwhile, back at home, Shane was going mad, he had searched everything and everywhere for the money and found nothing. “Where is it, the money I mean?” asked Katana.
“It’s in a bank, far away from here. Only you and I can access it, nobody else would be able to track it” said aunt Minty and gave a mischievous smile. Both of them looked at each other and laughed out loud. The End
