‘What was I thinking, how could I let my parents talk me into marrying Tom?’ Massie thought as she was running with her suitcase in hand, her wedding dress on and her favorite brown leather boots. ‘I have to catch the 4:30 train if I have to reach Natalie’s house by the evening’ she thought as she was running towards the station with her heart racing. As she sat in the train she felt a sense of relief, a feeling of freedom. Not that she was restricted to do anything, she lived on her own, had a good job but still she felt if she married Tom she wouldn’t be happy and always obligated to do things his way. She was peeping out of the window as the train pulled in the station, she could see Natalie waiting for her. “Hey, there you are. I was so worried about you. What the hell happened?” Natalie asked as she took the suitcase. “I will tell you everything, right now let’s just go home and eat something, I’m starving” said Massie. “Okay first of all, I’m alright. You can stop worrying about me. Secondly, I never wanted to marry Tom. I will marry somebody whom I feel is right for me, who can make my heart skip a beat when I see him and make my knees go weak when he touches me. I want to ride on a white horse with him.” she explained to Natalie after a blissful lunch over a cup of hot cocoa. “Oh my God, you are such a romantic. I didn’t know this side of you. Why didn’t you tell me this earlier? I’m all in for it but this kind of fairy tale romance is very difficult to find these days” said Natalie sipping her hot cocoa. Massie started working with Natalie at the café and was enjoying her time in the small town. Natalie tried to fix up dates Massie all the time, sometimes with a cute customer or a colleague. One day a customer came in and started shouting Massie quickly went over and asked him what the matter was? “What’s wrong you ask? What’s right? I asked for skim milk not full cream, I wanted two shots of coffee not one. I’m late for work because of you” he said sternly “So sorry for the trouble sir, I will make you a new one. It’s on the house. Sorry again for the inconvenience” said Massie giving him a smile. “What was that all about? Who was that?” asked Natalie as she entered the café. “A very cute man whom I got to serve coffee to” she said with dreamy eyes. Natalie went to work with a mischievous smile on her face. “Hello!” said the cute man who Massie had served coffee to yesterday “Hey there, how are you? Did we get your order wrong today as well?” she asked “No, I just wanted to apologize for yesterday, I had a bad day and took it out all on you” he said “It’s ok. Can I get you something?” asked Massie “Yes, a cup of coffee with you would be great” he said “Well, I don’t even know your name. How can I have coffee with you?” she said sweetly “Let me introduce myself, I’m Nathan. I’m a workaholic. I enjoy reading and going out with friends and I like talking to you” he said with a sweet smile. “Maybe some other time” replied Massie with a mischievous smile. “Why didn’t you go out with him?” asked Natalie after Nathan left the café. “I will but let him come here more often” she said Two days later, Nathan came in again, bought coffee and left. Massie was right there and he didn’t even talk to her. After he left she felt bad that he didn’t talk to her but didn’t do anything about it. A few days later, Natalie saw him in a book shop. She went up to him and asked, “Hey, What’s wrong with you? Why are you acting strange?” “I’m sorry. What are you talking about?” asked Nathan “Are you not interested in Massie anymore?” she asked “Oh, you are from that café. Yes, I’m interested but I guessed she wouldn’t say yes to me very easily so I want to court her and get her to say yes to me on her own terms. ” he said. “Oh my God, you are the one for her.
