Halloween special: A night to remember (part 1)

“I’m so scared, Lillian. Do something. They will kill me” said a frightened Amy. Lightning flashed just as they reached the abandoned house. “No one is after you. Just relax and stop shivering. You are with me, we are safe here” said Lillian. “There is not much time left that we get discovered here. We have to be on the run again” thought Lillian. “Now try and sleep little sister. You need your beauty sleep” said Lillian brushing Amy’s hair with her hands. At the crack of dawn Amy got up to see that Lillian was already up and looking out the window. “What are you looking at?” asked Amy “Ssshhh, keep your voice down, I’m trying to see if we are being watched” she explained. “But you said we were safe here” asked Amy “We are, but not for long” Lillian said “What are we going to do? Run again? For how long will we keep doing this?” asked Amy “We will take care of it, don’t worry, you still have me on your side” said Lillian reassuringly. Amy and Lillian were two typical kids who had a loving family. They lived with their parents just outside the city. There were not many people in the vicinity. They liked the peace and quiet. They were a small happy family. Lillian was the elder sibling who took care of her little sister like a mother and Amy, being the youngest, was a very naughty child. One fine day, everything changed. There was an earthquake in the area and everyone in the house was engulfed inside the earth. But instead of getting hurt they landed up in another world, a world different from theirs; a world which was full of monsters. Both the children were thankfully together as they began the search for their parents. The biggest problem was where to start from? Wherever they went there were monsters blocking their way. “Look, a witch and a mummy” said Amy. “Yes, they are all over the place. We have to stay hidden so please stay quiet little sis” said Lillian. The whole place was like a Halloween day. There were scary pumpkins, toilet papers, spider webs and monsters all over the place. But no one in particular was watching them. Lillian thought that that was a good sign. They could rest in that house for a few days and keep a look out for their parents. One earthquake had changed their lives forever. No one knew what will happen in the future and will they be reunited with their parents or not. But hope was something they did not lose. “Come on Amy we are going out” Lillian said “But how, they will kill us?” said Amy “We are dressing up as them, remember you said you wanted to be Frankenstein for Halloween this year?” she said to Amy “Yes, I remember. But I don’t have any clothes to dress up” “We should be able to find some old clothes in this house” said Lillian crossing her fingers at the back. After both of them dressed up, they went out hoping it would work and no one will recognize them. “Wow Lillian you look amazing in that witch costume” said Amy “Thanks, you look pretty too. Now, let’s not waste any time and go” They went out casually and not grabbing any attention to themselves and blended well amongst the others. They kept walking for a while and came across a group. Amy suggested that they should go and talk to them and find out what was going on. “Good idea sis, that way we would find out who is the mastermind behind this ruckus, but the only problem is we don’t speak their language or however is it that they communicate” said Lillian “Let’s just go and stand there, we might understand something” said Amy After standing there for about half an hour, they left disappointed. They couldn't understand anything. “Don’t worry sis, we will find a solution, and soon” Lillian reassured Amy. “I’m tired, can we sit somewhere” said Amy after they had been walking for a couple of kilometers. They sat down on the railing at the side of the road. “Look, there’s smoke coming out of that building” said Lillian. “What is that place?” asked Amy

“I don’t know sis, but we should find out. Looks kind of important as it’s being guarded so heavily” said Lillian pointing to the guards at the entrance. There were about 4 guards at this entrance and 4 at the back entrance. “How are we ever going to get in?” asked Amy. “We will find a way” said Lillian. They found a place near the building which was a little away from everyone’s eye and sat there throughout the night, observing every little detail of who was coming in and going out. Amy slept after a while but Lillian had to awake to keep a check. To be continued...
