“I must kill you, but I can’t,” Amy confessed pointing the gun at him. “Neither can I, my love,” Kevin replied still holding the gun and looking deeply into her radiant eyes. “What are we going to do?” she said putting her gun away. “We will make it work” he said taking her in her arms and hugging her tightly. “The cops are going to be here any minute now, we don’t have time. We must decide what to do” said Amy. She was a cop and he was a hardened criminal. They had met a few years ago when Amy was on a mission to catch him and he was the main culprit behind the whole riot. As soon as their eyes met, they knew they were made for each other. Amy couldn't kill him even when she had the orders to shoot at sight. “No one knows what I look like, we can just tell everyone that I'm a federal agent who was helping you on the mission” said Kevin. "Are you sure?" she asked “There is no time to waste, just follow my lead on this one” he said As soon as the other cops came on the scene, Amy introduced them to Kevin as Agent Mc Callister. “So agent Mc Callister, we didn't know you would be joining us on this mission” said Chief James “It’s my pleasure to assist you in any way I can sir” said Kevin/ agent Mc Callister. “How did our thief escape from under your nose? We were very hopeful that this time Detective Amy would be able to catch him of course along with your help” said Chief James. “His luck is better than ours I suppose” said agent Mc Callister jokingly. “We can’t let him get away like this every time agent. It’s our reputation and our jobs on the line here. We must catch him” said the chief. “I understand chief, and we will catch him next time for sure” he said. “Come on, let’s go back to my office and discuss our further plan of action” said the chief. Amy and Kevin both looked at each other and breathed a sigh of relief. For now they were safe. No one suspected anything. For the next few days the hunt was on, but to no avail. Every time a lead came in agent Mc Callister and Det. Amy would guide everyone in the wrong direction. One day suddenly Kevin had to go and complete an unfinished business i.e. kill someone whom he couldn’t kill earlier because Det. Amy had stopped him then, but now it had to be done as his life was on the line. The police department also got a hold of the news and they were prepared for him. Both Amy and Kevin had no clue because the information was kept top secret. Also Amy had no clue that Kevin had to go, she was in a complete blind spot. At the shooting site before Kevin could even take a shot he was surrounded and had nowhere to go. “You are surrounded, don’t try to run. There is no way out of here” said Det. Amy. *Bang Bang* He was down, everyone thought he was dead. He moved a little and a little more, he tried getting up but failed. “The ambulance is here, stay with him and don’t let anyone near him, he is a very notorious criminal” said Chief James to Det. Amy. “Yes sir” she said and got into the ambulance and headed towards the hospital. “I must see his face. I should also know which famous criminal have I caught” she thought and lifted the mask off his face. “Oh my God Kevin, what have I done? I tried to kill the only man I ever loved” she said. She had to think of something fast to save him. If anyone from the police force saw his face they will both be dead. She quickly put the mask back on his face and took him inside to the hospital. He went into the operating room and she waited outside anxiously. “Is he going to be alright?” she asked the doctor as soon as he came out. “He is still under sedation. We will have to wait and see what happens. It’s all up to God now. If he doesn't wake up he will go in a coma. Let’s hope for the best” he said To be continued...
